Massive Attack Preview of European Tour Kicks off 19th Jan in Ireland 2016

First formed in 1988, Massive Attack remain perhaps the most famous breakout bands to derive from Bristol’s legendary “Trip-hop” scene during the early 90’s alongside their contemporary Portishead. Founders Robert Del Naja & Grant Marshall have used an eclectic bunch of guest vocalists over the years ranging from Elbow’s front-man Guy Garvey to most famously Shara Nelson who sang on their huge anthem Unfinished Sympathy (which also featured on the million plus debut selling album Blue Lines). They also went onto experience further fame with their second album Protection, featuring the unmistakable rich, moody tones of Everything But The Girl’s Tracey Thorn.

While their third album Mezzanine, was their most successful selling over 4 million copies, as a result of their other classic track ‘Teardrop’ which featured the dulcet, ethereal singing of Liz Fraser, Front Woman of Cocteau Twins. Their further seminal albums 100th Window and Heligoland have continued to establish them as the original forefathers of groundbreaking trip-hop.

Looking back at their humble roots as what started as an independent underground act who consistently attempted to shy away from the limelight when releasing albums, their continuous mainstream recognition they have achieved is definitely against all odds.

They will be playing from Jan 19th in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre until Feb 5th 2016 in London’s O2 Academy, and will end their tour in Europe on the 27th October in February, in Zenith, Paris with support from Scottish Mercury Prize winners and trip-hop enthusiasts Young Fathers.
