Time Warp took place this past weekend in Sao Paolo, the South American debut of the world-renowned techno fest. Time Warp is one of the biggest and longest-running techno spectacles in the world has grown from a German highlight to an international behemoth, with several international editions. An all-star cast of international heavyweights and local talents sound-tracked Time Warp’s premiere Sao Paolo outing, from late night through sunrise.
Friday night saw Amelie Lens’ making her Brazil debut, while Nina Kraviz tore it up with her signature acid slammers and Joseph Capriati closed the main floor with a killer set. The main floor transformed into the much loved ‘Cave 2.0’ – with it’s a special low hanging mesh on the ceiling and hundreds of glimmering lights mesmerising dancers. Local support came from the talented artists L_Cio, Barbara Boing, Carrot Green, Valesuchi and Vermelho. Spinning outdoors against the stunning Sao Paolo skyline were house legends Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak, plus Barnt, Gui Boratto, Kolsch and the Martinez Brothers.
Following a brief storm on Saturday evening, which couldn’t dim the bright and cheery mood of the event, Sven Vath, Maceo Plex, Ilario Allicante and DJ ANNA spun through the night, bringing proceedings to a truly epic close at 10:00am on Sunday morning. The fest was certainly a huge success, and the Sao Paolo edition was a great way to preempt the Time Warp’s 25th Anniversary, which is coming up in 2019.
