Danny Elfman | Love In The Time Of Covid | ANTI- & Epitaph Records
Release Date: 11 February, 2021
Prolific composer Danny Elfman has released his latest promised single; with the artist stating on the 11th of every month he would be releasing a new track. Returning with the brooding theatrics of ‘Love In The Time Of Covid’ and a fitting, fantasy-horror music video with classic VFX reminiscent of classic horror flicks from the mid 20th century right up until contemporary modern day visual effects (ie: Director Guillermo Del Toro of Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape Of Water etc…)
‘Love In The Time Of Covid’ is relevant to so many; as the majority of us have been separated from our loved ones for what feels like eons. The frenzied industrial electronics that shiver and shimmer throughout the track sing heavy and distorted, with Elfman’s vocals powerfully driven in collaboration with SHREK 666; an enigmatic musician who has been performing as a literal ogre for years, using his prowess in prosthetics, stunts and filmmaking to create his outstanding visual effects.
Lavish with moody theatrics, bold uses of fascinating carefully woven textures; the intricate chaos of the track contrasts the melancholic longing and romantic love of being separated from a significant other – or finding love in the midst of a major, terrifying event in history.
