Canadian electronic music band Keys N Krates have been nominated for Best Dance Record at the 2022 Libera Awards for their album, Original Classic. Presented by EDM.com, other nominees in the category include Disclosure and Dawn Richard.
Keys N Krates shared Original Classic last year, an expansive visual album project that saw the band dive into the history of club culture and pull inspiration from house, hip-hop, and warehouse raves. “We wanted a lot of groove, loose feeling but driving drums, syncopation, an overall tribal feeling, a more global sound, 808s, orchestral and synthy textures; all things we love. We wanted it to be a mix of pop songs and instrumental songs and moody interludes… Put simply, we tried to make music that we would want to hear if we turned up somewhere to dance,” they told Clash magazine last year.
The Libera Awards, also known as The Libbys, are “Independent Music’s Biggest Night,” an annual awards show celebrating excellence in the independent music community organised by the American Association of Independent Music.
