Liminka’s latest lo-fi single enters our chilled playlist

It’s been nearly a week since emerging lo-fi producer Liminka released his latest single, ‘Forgive’ that wraps the listener in a blanket of mellow tones and echoing percussive elements. Since then, it’s been circling our playlists, finding itself at home next to the likes of Bonobo, Massive Attack and Portico Quartet. Released via Deep Heads, ‘Forgive’ gently rises and falls, like the breath of a giant wrapped in an eternal slumber.

The single follows the release of ‘Where Are We Now’ which was made public just last month. At the time, we sat down for an exclusive interview with Liminka, during which he took us through his creative process and spoke about his upcoming EP, Hungerberg which will also be released via the same Deep Heads imprint. While it’s clear that these are the beginning stages for the producer, it’s difficult to not see the potential lying beneath the surface of an elegant production.

Liminka tells us a little more about the meaning behind the single: “This song was written during a difficult phase in a relationship. I wanted to make something that carried sadness and heaviness, and how these feelings can turn into actual conflicts when they’re not expressed. At the end of the song, I wanted to give this feeling of guilt and sorrow after a big fight, like someone saying “I’m so sorry” after the damage has already been done.”
