Letting the rich arpeggio rhythms guide him, music producer Joris Delacroix has shared his most genre-redefining work to date – ‘Unexpected’ via SmallFishBigSea. Gradually introducing techno quirks into his deep house sound, we are intrigued by the endless possibilities Delacroix has in the works. Featuring energetic but refined nightclub hooks, one is captured by its poised beat that skillfully builds. The overall mood of this single is euphoric and the intense desire to experience the club scene once again.

The producer shares insight on his latest single ‘Unexpected’: “I just wanted to do a track calibrated for dance floors I can easily play in my dj sets, but it doesn’t forget to be emotional, especially with an euphoric moment at the end bought by the constant progression in it. I named it that way because just before I started producing it, I was kind of in a blank page phase, and this track idea just came out of nowhere, at a moment I didn’t expect it anymore, and I actually composed it very quickly!”.
Preceding single ‘Homie’ (read our previous feature here) saw the producer lean further toward a more daring soundscape by incorporating electronica layering and robotic-like drum beats. He previously mentioned: “ Homie’ is the kind of music I enjoy producing the most. It’s all about mixing peaceful and dreamy vibes with powerful and uplifting sensations in a constantly evolving way. This contradictory feeling resonates deep inside in me and I still need to express it through my music. The style is between House music and Electronica and the main theme takes influences from Stephan Bodzin and Vitalic.”
A producer that is gracefully stepping out of his musical comfort zone one song at a time, new listeners of his music would possibly believe he has been crafting this sound for a long time with his confidence.
