This Pride month, we’re feeling particularly proud. So we reached out to LGBTQIA+ icons and allies alike and asked them to compile a playlist of their all-time ultimate Pride anthems. Today, we have a collection of club ready bangers curated by bedroom pop icon and Still Woozy member, Legwurk. When not busy guitaring, bassing, and keying for indie darlings Still Woozy, Legwurk is busy cooking up “a cocktail of genuine, indie, bedroom pop, with a twist of dance-funk, and chillwave.” Check out the music video for Sour PK from her debut EP, I Have A Bad Memory below.
So, what does Pride sound like for Legwurk? As an openly trans woman, championing visibilty for queer artists and audiences alike is something Legwurk is inherently passionate about. Her music in particular has become a way to express the trans experience, subsequently amassing an audence of young “girls, gays, and theys” in its wake. “Pride is a time where the external world encourages me to celebrate what I celebrate in myself everyday,” she says. “It is nice to see the world reflect an environment that loves all genders, and orientations. Pride is really just a time to be extra loud and extra queer! And have fun with less fear.” You better wurk!
