Roundup, Oct #1

We ring in the new month with new tracks from some of our favourite heavy hitters, from hip-house to synthwave. Listen below.

Follow our Roundup Selections playlist on Spotify to stay updated on what we have on repeat.

Honey Dijon – Show Me Some Love

Teaming up with Compton house pioneer Channel Tres, Honey Dijon’s latest comes with news of her new album Black Girl Magic. Tres’s smooth and icy cool vocals slide over a slick and stylish four on the floor pulse, accented with an acid leaning piano riff and syrupy R&B vocal samples.

M.I.A – Beep

For the latest single off her forthcoming album MATA, M.I.A delivers a percussion led Bollywood dembow banger. Full of deep and boosted bass, Beep is the most massive thing we’ve heard from MATA, which is shaping up to be one of the alt-rapper’s most accessible work to date.

Eagles & Butterflies – Retropolis

The title track off his forthcoming EP, Retropolis sees LA based producer Eagles & Butterflies go further into his vintage instincts. Blending a symphony of retro 80’s modular synths onto driving drums and pads, Retropolis sits between neon soaked synthwave and booming techno, making for a glorious trip into the past by way of the future.

Bree Runway – That Girl

The English-Ghanian singer-songwriter and rapper levels up on her latest single, a club ready scorcher featuring a chrome plated bounce beat from EASYFUN. Speaking on the propulsive and hook heavy track, Runway says, “[That Girl] automatically makes me feel like the main character in the middle of a sweaty club, and I’m just oozing sex, glamour and confidence whilst everybody watches.”
