Roundup, October #3

This week, we go from buzzy New Wave synthpop to firey gqom-dancehall hybrids as we roundup our favourite new releases. Listen below.

Follow our Roundup Selections playlist on Spotify to stay updated on what we have on repeat.

Ladytron – City Of Angels

British Electropop outfit Ladytron are making a comeback, starting with City Of Angels. Nostalgic and stylish, the single is a fuzzy New Wave cut, with lashings of post-punk delay and moody guitars, all wrapped around washed out analog synths and robotic lyrics.

Actress – Dream

Following this year’s excellent AZD SURF with Mount Kimbie’s Kai Campos, UK producer Actress has released a new track from his upcoming EP. Dream is a minimal progressive techno cut with loads of bite. Using elements sparingly, Actress makes the most of each to create sledgehammering motion, resulting in a kinetic and hypnotic banger.

Moby – Rescue Me

The latest from Moby is a melodic, vocal driven progressive house cut filtered through brooding darkwave motifs. Written for an animal rights documentary, Rescue Me is as urgent as it is foreboding, rising and falling to extremes of minimal ambience and full-throttle electronica, all carried by a pitch-perfect, icy vocal performance from Apollo Jane

Lady Lykez – Killa Bee

London rapper Lady Lykez’s first single off her forthcoming EP brings the fire in full force. Produced by Scratchclart, the gqom-dancehall hybrid is a scorcher reminiscent of the sort of grime made famous by The Bug. Coupled with its manic and absurd music video, Killa Bee is a hell of a ride.
