Grammys 2023: Bonobo, Rüfüs Du Sol, and Beyoncé lead Dance / Electronic nominations

The nominees for the 2023 Grammy Awards have been announced. Competing in the Dance / Electronic categories are Diplo, Bonobo, Rüfüs Du Sol, and Beyoncé, who all earn nominations for both Best Dance / Electronic Album and Best Dance / Electronic Recording. Significantly, Beyoncé is the first Black female artist to receive a nomination for the Best Dance / Electronic Album since the category’s inception in 2005. She receives her nomination for this year’s Renaissance, which is also vying for Album Of The Year at the awards next year. Elsewhere, Beyoncé scores a further seven nominations across various categories for music from the album, bringing her total number of nominations to nine. Bonobo and Rüfüs Du Sol each receive their second nomination in the Best Dance / Electronic Album category.

The race for Best Dance / Electronic Recording sees David Guetta and Kaytranada in the ring alongside Bonobo, Beyoncé, Diplo, and Rüfüs Du Sol. While the Best Dance / Electronic Album category has generally been open to pop leaning albums, the Best Dance / Electronic Recording category has been a space for non-commercial and non-pop artists to compete, making Beyoncé’s presence in the nominations this year a potentially contentious one.

The Grammys will take place on February 5th at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. See the full list of nominees for the Dance / Electronic categories below.
