It’s been an interesting week for Kieran Hebden, AKA Four Tet, who just closed Coachella’s second weekend last minute alongside his newfound brothers Skrillex and Fred Again.. . In this sense, the serenity of Four Tet’s latest single Three Drums feels delightfully endearing. There’s a real sense of stillness and calm here, a contentment and subtle melancholy that echoes the late 90’s sentiments of acts like The Verve.

Three Drums layers an orchestra of synths and twinkling wind instruments over a steady live drum tracks, pastoral waves of drone synths washing over the track and becoming all encompassing at its apex so that the whole thing glows with a stunning sense of grandeur that feels revelatory. There’s a beauty in its simplicity, but even more in the way Three Drums elicits an almost giddy sense of euphoria.
