HE.SHE.THEY is so much more than a brand – it’s a movement. In just a few years, the London queer nightlife collective has evolved from a fashion brand, agency, and record label into a series of global nightlife happenings. Their mission? To reclaim the dancefloor and give it back to the communities who originated it. The brainchild of clubland stalwarts Steven Braines and Sophia Kearny of The Weird & The Wonderful, HE.SHE.THEY’s parties are sanctuaries for queer, trans, and POC folk. Their manifesto may be simple, but packs a necessary punch- a place free from prejudice, for people to be people. Promoting queer visibility, individuality, experimentation, and the breaking of boundaries – their fabulous parties have been creating inclusive utopias from Manchester to Mumbai, while their label and agency boasts a roster of some of the hottest acts in techno and house music. Their most recent project – an expansive residency at Amnesia in Ibiza – is testament to just how groundbreaking HE.SHE.THEY has become, infiltrating stereotypically normative or cis spaces, and returning nightlife to its inclusive, ideological roots.
