Bandcamp has introduced a new feature that allows users to create playlists from their purchased music on the Bandcamp app.
The feature allows users to organise music according to tracks rather than albums, and was originally promised following Bandcamp’s acquisition by Epic Games last year. Speaking to MusicTech at this time, Bandcamp shared that through Epic Games, they hoped to develop the platform “from basics like our album pages, mobile apps, merch tools, payment system, and search and discovery features, to newer initiatives like our vinyl pressing and live streaming services.”
Only available on the Bandcamp app, the playlist feature allows users to create playlists easily by selecting the ‘New Playlist’ option from a tab, and adding songs from their purchased albums via a plus sign icon.
Epic Games’s acquisition of Bandcamp came as a surprise, though the gaming conglomerate said that they and Bandcamp hold similar ideals when it comes to creating a platform that is artist-friendly and “that enables creators to keep the majority of their hard-earned money.”
“Bandcamp will play an important role in Epic’s vision to build out a creator marketplace ecosystem for content, technology, games, art, music and more,” Epic Games continued.
This month, Epic Games enlisted Bandcamp to curate an in-game radio station for Fortnite, which will be available to stream within the game until early March.
