Duolingo reportedly working on music based learning app

Duolingo, the language learning app known for its green owl mascot, is reportedly planning to add music lessons to its platform.

According to MusicTech, the company, which currently has over 500 million users, has advertised a job for a Learning Scientist for Music on its website. The job listing explains that Duolingo is looking for an expert in music education who can combine theoretical knowledge of relevant learning science research with hands-on teaching experience. The goal is to build a new music app that promotes learning and is fun to use.

It appears that Duolingo has also been searching for a freelance Music Composition and Curricular Consultant, according to a LinkedIn listing. The company has been expanding its learning platform in recent years, with the addition of literacy and math tools for children and the introduction of a subscription tier called ‘Max,’ which uses AI and GPT-4 to teach languages.
