Enrico Sangiuliano and Charlotte de Witte, the power couple of techno, have finally unleashed their long-awaited collaborative EP, Reflection. Following their viral remix of Age of Love, the EP is a high-octane club-focused affair that showcases de Witte’s frenzied sensibilities and Sangiuliano’s polished finesse. Released under Sangiuliano’s NINETOZERO label, Reflection features three tracks, including the title track that has already gained widespread support across DJs in the techno space.
The title track, which both producers have been incorporating into their sets over the past year, is a particularly successful fusion of both producers’ styles. They come together here to create something that is propulsive and hypnotic, with crisp drums and synths that stray toward trance. Layered over the heavy percussive drum sequence, de Witte introduces her own voice for the alluring lyrics, “What’s your reflection? / Find your direction.” The track has already garnered widespread support across DJs in the techno space.

While the remaining tracks on the EP, the Reflection Intro Mix and Source Of Propagation, don’t follow the traditional techno formula, they still manage to captivate listeners in creating a cohesive ecosystem for Reflection to flourish. The Reflection Intro Mix is an extended intro to the title track that stokes expectations for the lone club-ready tune using a combination of chopped vocals, intricate synth textures, and ethereal atmospheres. On the other hand, Source Of Propagation serves as a spoken word intro that ups the melodrama, introducing evocative imagery that drives the rest of the experience. While it doesn’t quite break the laws of techno, Reflection pushes enough boundaries to remain interesting, though there’s something to be said about what these artists could be capable of if not tied to commercial expectations.
It’s worth noting that the Reflection EP is less a collection of tracks and more like an extension of the title track Reflection. Source Of Propagation acts as a prologue of sorts, leading listeners into the hypnotic and captivating world of the EP. With Reflection, Enrico Sangiuliano and Charlotte de Witte have once again demonstrated their superb production skills, cementing their status as two of the most exciting DJs in techno.
