Jacques Greene has been stirring up the dance floor for over a decade with his hypnotic blends of garage-y house beats and ethereal vocal chops. His latest release, Believe, however, brings a whole new level of energy to his sound. While Greene’s previous tracks have been dreamy and serene, Believe is urgent and club-ready. The track’s propulsive tech-house groove and insistent trance bassline are enough to get even the most jaded partygoer moving.
Although Believe doesn’t quite match the brilliance of Greene’s recent collaboration with Bonobo, Fold, it’s clear that the producer is expanding his sound into new territories. Fold hinted at a shift from the forests of his album Fantasy to the rave, and Believe confirms that he’s not afraid to go there. With this new release, Jacques Greene proves that he’s not content to rest on his laurels but is constantly evolving and pushing himself beyond his comfort zone.
