Jerry Folk is an artist whose musical journey led him to the pool of electronic music, where he sat, on the edge, dipping his toes, feeling the cool undertow of pop pleasantries. Tiring of them, however, he has dropped two trap-focused tracks, neatly packaged as a double single titled ‘sadsongwtf/ All The Things’ via Folkestad Recordings.
With a kick that will rattle even the sturdiest of windows, ‘sadsongwtf’ makes an impact. Metallic stabs penetrate the space between the snap of the sizzling snare and the transient of the kick. A multi-voiced synth chorus sweeps over a knocking drum pattern, while the lead melody blares. The song is both audacious and boastful, a firework display of what Jerry Folk is capable of.
But it doesn’t end there. The second track on the double single, ‘All The Things’, shifts gears, serving us a whirlwind of hyperactive chaos. A lightly crushed 808 runs, head first, into our eardrums, pounding relentlessly, and we are immensely grateful for the intensity. Short and sweet, these two records will satisfy even the strongest craving for a trap treat.
