Indie singer-songwriter Kevin Goodwin unveiled a haunting new single, ‘Forevermore’, on November 10, 2023. Despite being a fan of lots of different kinds of music, the North Carolina native has kept gravitating towards 2000’s pop rock, citing the likes of The Fray, John Mayer and Counting Crows as his biggest influences. His first two EPs, This Is How It Starts (2019) and Heart Of The City (2021) have each accumulated 250,000 streams on Spotify alone. The lead single off his 2023 EP One Hell of a Night, titled ‘Best Damn Time,’ recently surpassed 100,000 views on YouTube and has received radio play. It is evident that this self-described hopeless romantic has been gaining traction, showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
‘Forevermore’ is a heartfelt ballad in which Goodwin bares his soul in an attempt to rekindle a romance that has lingered in his heart for years. The track opens with gentle piano chords and Goodwin’s piercing vocals, brimming with potent emotion. The song delivers a slow-burn build in intensity with swelling strings, deep reverberant pads and tear-jerking guitar licks, erupting in a full-bodied, stirring rock outro. The song’s crisp yet minimal production drives home its raw and emotional essence. ‘Forevermore’ is a testament to love and longing, ready for a romantic movie soundtrack.
“This song is very different from anything I’ve written before,” Goodwin revealed. “All of my songs are pulled from personal experiences I’ve had, but I usually write with a larger audience in mind and try to make songs as relatable as possible. With Forevermore, I wrote the song for an audience of one.”
