A new music festival, CURRENTS, is set to take place in an abandoned power plant near Berlin on Saturday, October 8th. Curated by Romanian DJ and production duo Khidja, the festival is set to feature a lineup including Suzanne Ciani and Dopplereffekt.
Significantly, CURRENTS claims to be one of the world’s first carbon neutral electronic music festivals. It plans to generate its own electricity by burning waste wood chips onsite. The festival will take place over one day at the former E-WERK Luckenwalde, a defunct coal power station which has been turned into an arts centre.
CURRENTS is a non-profit festival, with funds raised being allocated in support of ‘an international community of artists and cultural workers existentially threatened by climate change, pandemics, wars, displacement and economic inequality.”
