Apple announced last week that the new addition of its popular music creation app GarageBand will feature exclusive sound packs from some of the top artists and producers, including Boys Noize, Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga. Users can experiment with developing remixing skills with the app’s Remix Sessions. The Remix Sessions include two packs, one from Lipa and the other from Gaga which include isolated vocals, individual instruments and beats. Users are able to remix Lipa’s hit Break my Heart and Gaga’s track Free Woman alongside step-by-step video tutorials which give an introduction to the art of remixing.

The update will also allow users to create original productions using packs of loops, samples, pads and beats curated by producers such as  Boys Noize, Oak Felder, Take A Daytrip, and TRAKGIRL. Users can use the royalty-free sound packs to design their own creations, with tips and videos from each producer offering advice and encouragement along the way. In a statement speaking on their involvement with the app, Take A Daytrip producers David Biral and Denzel Baptiste commented:

“We both got our start using GarageBand, met to form Take A Daytrip, and added Logic Pro to our production tools… Our goal is always to make technology more accessible for the next generation of producers and artists. Making our own sounds for GarageBand is a perfect way to pay forward the inspiration we got from previous generations of creators.”

Take A Daytrip is known for their work with Kid Cudi, Travis Scott and more recently Lil Nas X

In addition to the remix and production packs, GarageBand will also include a special producer pack based on Apple’s recent Watch the Music documentary with producer Mark Ronson. This pack will be made up of lite versions of the technology used by Ronson when producing and as discussed in the documentary, giving users the opportunity to interact with GarageBand versions of the drum machines, synths and effects that Ronson has used in his work.

GarageBand is one of Apple’s best selling apps and the most popular music making app in the world. Previous Remix Packs released by the platform include editions from Billie Eilish, Madonna and Taylor Swift. More information on the latest update of the app and the full press release is available on Apple’s website, here.
