Forming part of EPM’s milestone 100th release, Beyond The Reach Of Time (Shed Remix) sees Berlin’s René Pawlowitz rework British techno legend Regis’s original under his Shed moniker in a meeting of two techno heavyweights.
First released as part of EPM’s EPM20 compilation, Beyond The Reach Of Time was a track unearthed by Regis from the archives, showing an introspective, more emotional side to the producer and Downwards Records label head that had otherwise “been buried in the mists of time.” For his take, Pawlowitz pulls Beyond The Reach Of Time into tribal territory, deepening the track’s percussive elements with robust drums and shimmering hi-hats. The result is hypnotic and propulsive, while honouring the emotional integrity that forms the soul of Regis’s original.
