Within the historical streets of Stockholm you’ll find Samuel Rogstrom, expanding his musical world at every chance he gets and finding new artists to collaborate with at each turn. The artist enjoys creating music as both Sace and Silent Boy, two different creative outlets for his work. His latest collaboration is with Stockholm-born Berlin-based sweeep on their recently released ethereal single, ‘burn down my mind’ which is credited to both the Sace and Silent Boy aliases. The single is the first to be revealed from the upcoming EP from the Secret Souls label which will feature a variety of artists who defy expectation and categorisation. The EP will also feature another single from sweeep and Sace, which we’re told will be revealed to the public shortly.

Join us as we learn more about Sace, the enigmatic producer who has earned over 17 million plays across platforms and yet still seems to be rising. Perhaps you’ll find some of his secret methods in the interview below.
Set the tone for us. Why the arts?
Its how I express my vision and it makes me happy creating beautiful works
Which comes first when you’re producing – the sound or the idea?
Usually, I make melodies on the spot and when it comes to vocals I just freestyle until I have something catchy.
What’s on your current playlist?
Here are some artists from my current playlist: Malibu, Sam Gellaitry, Lil B, Dinamarca, Cult Member, Burial, Mag
What techniques do you experiment with to get your original sound?
I do a lot of mixing which is playing the biggest part in my sound.
Take us through a day in the recording studio.
It’s just me sitting in front of my pc, I’m almost always inspired to create and usually, I make 3 fl studio projects on the days I produce, if not more.
Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, “this is what I want to do”?
Not really. I’ve always known I wanted to create stuff and music was my main interest.
What gets your creative juices flowing?
Listening to the music that is already out there and nature both inspire me a lot.
Take us through your collection of gear, tech or software that accompanies your creative expression.
I use a very old gaming computer to produce on (it feels like it’s gonna give up any day now) I use an Audio Technica AT2020 USB mic to record with. I have an old midi keyboard to make melodies on.
You’re currently releasing music as both Sace and Silent Boy. Is there a reason you chose to include both aliases on ‘burn down my mind’ rather than one or the other?
Silent Boy is my vocal project whilst Sace is my producing alias. Since I recorded my own vocals and produced the track, I felt that it would make sense to include both names.
Tell us about some of the challenges you faced while working on this single?
It was kinda difficult to find the project file for the first draft of the instrumental since I named it some random letters but eventually, I found it. My PC also crashed about 5 times whilst I was trying to work on the song.
Break down the news for us: what can we expect from you this year?
A lot of great music and art
Famous last words?
I’m happy these two tracks now have a place in the universe. The vision has not even started yet, there’s more to come.
