Pabllo Vittar & Rina Sawayama – Follow Me
Brazilian pop sensation Pabllo Vittar teams up with Rina Sawayama on a fittingly massive club banger. Follow Me sees Vittar on the brink of inventing an entirely new genre (is samba tech a thing?) with steamy latinx verses and a chugging techno breakdown. The vocals from both artists deliver the camp in spades, delightfully dramatic and totally fabulous. The parts of this track shouldn’t make sense, but somehow it comes together into something impossible not to serve face like Naomi Campbell to.
Hercules & Love Affair, Anhoni – Poisonous Storytelling
The latest single from Hercules & Love Affair’s upcoming project features alt and baroque pop goddess Anhoni, whose seraphic and earthy vocals ground a track rooted in percussion. Opening with an overture of distorted sub-bass and rolling drums, the track fuses Hercules & Love Affair’s breathless electronica with Anhoni’s alt-rock proclivities, making for a stirring and incredibly powerful experience.
Floating Points – Grammar
Floating Points’s recent outputs may be some of the hardest hitting of his career. Following last month’s deliciously propulsive Vocoder, Grammar keeps the energy high with a booming four on the floor and chopped house vocals. The track eventually blooms into an earthshaking acid house trip, with a squelchy synthline and growing bass. Over the course of its seven and a half minutes, Grammar phases and evolves through various passages of intensity and decline, making for some truly exceptionally crafted dance music.
Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim with Dan Daniels – Speed Trials On Acid
Techno icon Carl Cox teams up with fellow icon Fatboy Slim on an acid track with smooth piano house flourishes. Featuring Detroit’s Dan Daniels delivering an old school spoken word bit designed to hypnotize the dancefloor into love & unity, Speed Trials On Acid is a traditional house track retrofitted for the future. Booming techno production evolves above an epic bassline as the track grows, becoming increasingly restless as the track’s piano riff dips in and out to channel the energy toward its finale.
Black Coffee, WhoMadeWho – Silence & Secrets (Black Coffee Remix)
Fresh off his Grammy win for Best Dance / Electronic album, South Africa’s Black Coffee takes up remix duty for WhoMadeWho with his take on previously released single Silence & Secrets. Adding a pulsing four on the floor, plucked guitar strings and a simmering gqom bassline, Coffee’s afrohouse style blends seamlessly with WhoMadeWho’s soulful melodic tech. Taking the captivating single in a darker direction adds layers of nuance, with passages of the original’s bright keys shining through the grime.
