For Irish DJ and producer Saoirse, a fabric presents mix represents somewhat of a full circle moment. It’s a culmination of the journey she’s found herself on after moving from Dublin to London – a decision that was made on the fabric dancefloor. Since then, the trUst label boss and Body Movements co-founder has been on an ever upward trajectory, quickly rising as a fierce and prominent new voice in the UK’s electronic music scene. In particular, her push to visibilise the queer communities and subcultures she is invested in gives Saoirse a pertinent point of view, one that bleeds over into her approach to selecting. Her sets are often as eclectic as they are electric, a smorgasbord of stylistic influences stitched together seamlessly by Saoirse’s precise technique. Sitting at the intersections of trance, body music, and other rhythmically driven styles, her ear and taste for viscerally propulsive sounds has watermarked Saoirse’s sets with the ecstatic energy of the underground communities she comes from.
She proudly champions these communities on her fabric presents mix and compilation. It’s a shapeshifting roster of underground producers and lesser known gems, seasoned with new tracks by herself and the likes of Chilean DJ and longtime collaborator Shanti Celeste. These two in particular close out the immersive, acid laced 70 minutes. Celeste’s Fluffy is an airy, trippy smooth house jam that flows into the bulbous bass of Saoirse’s RM1, a giddy UK house banger that ends the set on a buzzing high. It both contrasts and compliments her opening moments, a blend of the minimal tech of Duckett’s choppy Flex with the grooving kwaito rhythms of Geeneus’s Yellowtail. From here, she surges toward motorik acid house in the vein of Caim’s Illusion, progressing bit by bit toward the chic and decadent energy of her finale.

There’s a particular reverence for the past in Saoirse’s selections and the overall direction of her mix. Classic UK house styles ground the whole thing, a baseline from which Saoirse moves in a kaleidoscopic myriad of directions, offering little glimpses into the potential future of the tradition she aligns herself with. fabric’s choice in Saoirse suggests that the label is clearly making an effort to stay on the pulse of what’s current.
