Spotify is launching an offline playlist option for its Premium users.
Premium subscribers to the music streaming giant will soon have access to a new capability designed for connectivity-free listening. This innovative function automatically generates a personalised collection of audio content that can be enjoyed without an internet connection – perfect for travel scenarios like air journeys or subway rides where network access is limited.
This smart feature leverages tracks that are already downloaded to your device, along with your regular listening habits, to build a custom compilation. Users can organise the auto-generated lineup by various parameters including musical style, performer, or ambiance. The selection updates dynamically based on your streaming activity, ensuring fresh content each time.
The company explains that this development provides an additional method to enjoy music when you haven’t actively chosen tracks to save for offline listening, without requiring extra storage space or data usage. Following successful beta testing conducted since late 2023, the function is now being made available to all paid subscribers worldwide.
The update is currently being distributed to mobile platforms, with compatibility extending to popular car entertainment systems. It’s worth noting that Spotify recently encountered technical difficulties and appeared to be offline, resulting in temporary inaccessibility for many users last week Sunday.
